Extraction Complications

Dental Extraction Complications

Do you feel like you might have an infection after dental tooth extraction? These key issues occur typically when post-op instructions are not followed as directed, however; some of these complications can occur accidentally. After your teeth have been removed, it is imperative that food does not get trapped in the extraction site. If food gets trapped in the extraction site infection may occur. An infection can also occur by a lack of taking antibiotics properly or a lack of following hygiene instructions. If an infection is present at the site of extraction it might become hot to the touch, tender, and swollen with a knot that you can feel, as well as a bad taste, smell, or oozing pus out of the socket. If any of these side effects occur it is important to contact your doctor immediately. An additional surgery could be needed to remove the infection resulting in additional time to the recovery process.
